Conducting Movements is a poetic voyage and site of play. The project explores movement-based memories in aging populations. It is part art, part research and part therapy. Kim Burgas started Conducting Movements in 2015 as the focus of her graduate thesis at Goldsmiths, University of London. Since graduation, she continues to build on the project in New York City.
Conducting Movements is:
1) The design of activities for discovering and communicating movement memories;
2) The facilitation of movement workshops with aging populations;
3) The creation of choreographies of the everyday, generated through movement workshops.
